Hains: Game 25: Time to Throw the "Fight"
The Canadiens lost yet another game last night to the Colorado Avalanche, but they also lost more than that, they lost another bit of pride as a fed up fan threw his Habs jersey and hat on the ice. |

I'm kind of fed up with the situation... I'm trying to see what the issue is and can't find the problem. The team has glaring holes, so that's on the GM. But they shouldn't be anywhere near as bad as what they are right now. They are completely disorganized, so that's coaching, but they also play without any emotion, so that's on the players. And it has become so bad that I can't believe the coach would actually want the players to play the "system" they are playing right now, but I also can't believe all players would spontaneously play that "system" if they didn't get directed to do it.
They completely suck. Like, they show nothing. Nothing at all. What happened since last year for all the players to suddenly become pathetic copies of what they were? I'm confounded. Easy answer seems to be to get rid of the coach, but is that really the good answer? Gorton has quite a puzzle to solve in front of him... |

They played for Weber and Price in the last playoffs, the coach never had control of this team, the playoffs were an anomaly IMO Look at last season in the Canadian conference and this year, the pattern is still there for Ducharme, his team is usually pretty bad.

Dear Fred,
Now the CPE represented by the CSQ are going on unlimited strike.

complete poop show last night....the loss was bad enough yes...but the hits the Avs put on the Habs last night and NOT A SINGLE Hab came to Anderson or Tifolli's defense....they jumped all over Romanov after that huge hit on their D man...he breaks his nose....and not a single Hab came up to push back....pathetic...and CC on the 4th line is an absolute joke...put him on the Laval Rocket if you wont play him on 1st or 2nd line. |

the players know their season is done, there is no fight left in them. It is obvious every other teams knows this also, keep the pressure on MTL, be physical, attack the Habs net....they won't respond and will fold the minute something is not going their way. |

I know they are not as good as the playoffs, but at the same time, they did manage to play really well during that time. Like it or not, the coach was dictating the team strategy and the players needed to play as a unit to succeed, so the coach did have an impact. It's like the players don't give a damn right now. And weren't giving a damn all season long last year too. Something is seriously broken in that team for them to show some heart only when they want to and surf on their paycheck for the rest of the time. |

If NHL players contracts were not guaranteed.
Things like this wouldn't happen.

Habs Sr management, coaches and players bought their own hype from the last playoffs. The changes required are deep and at all levels but it won't be easy and will take time, some of those contracts are pure anchors, you are not moving them without taking a real financial hit long term.
terms left AFTER this season for some key players to move
Price 4yrs left
Gallagher 5yrs left
Petry 3yrs left
Drouin 1yr left
Savard 3yrs left
some of them have a lot of terms left and are not performing, there won't be much of a market unless you eat up a lot of salary in a trade to get decent value |

if they are truly committing to a rebuilding process, eating salary for a few years is not impossible, as long as Molson does not mind paying a lot of salary for nothing but the players traded would have a lot more value.
The option is there, it's not like they will need to be at the cap for the next 3-4 years if they are rebuilding |
